Orthotics

Orthotics are medical grade insoles that sit in your shoes to alter pressure distribution and the alignment of the lower limb. They help to improve lower limb function when walking, running and standing.

Custom orthotics are molded and prescribed exactly to your feet. There are a multitude of modifications that your podiatrist will choose for your specific foot type. Off-the-shelf devices are pre-made and can be modified slightly.

Common reasons to prescribe orthotics include, but are not exclusive to, lower back pain, hip pain, knee pain, leg pain, ankle pain, foot pain, or for redistributing pressure from bony areas, where callus builds up and away from areas that may be sore.orthotics or childrens orthotics

Bio-mechanical issues such as flat feet, high arches, knocked knees, in-toeing, out-toeing, hyper extended knees and knocked knees can be treated with orthotics. Orthotics may be necessary for children, adults, older people and athletes. The Podiatrists at Chesterfield Podiatry are experts at assessing if orthotic therapy is an option as well as then prescribing both custom and off-the-shelf orthotics to help treat your lower limb concerns.
